Hi! I’m Coach Suzie and I am a proud Rabun County Native. I grew up in the Persimmon community and was a very active child. I was a competitive gymnast, played on the softball team, tennis team, and ran cross country. I was also heavily into performing arts and was president of the drama club, a very active Foxfire student and a singer/musician in the Foxfire music program, as well as in marching band. I was a member of student council and served as Student Council President my senior year of high school. I graduated from RCHS in 1988, and moved away to attend college. I became a Speech-Language Pathologist earning my Master’s Degree from the University of Memphis. My primary focus was pediatrics, however I treated all age groups in several settings.
Understanding the importance of movement-based activities for brain, cognitive, and language development, I knew when I moved home in 2019, opening a gymnastics/activity center would benefit the children and families of Rabun County, just as it had done for my two sons. Thus, Blue Ridge Activity & Tumbling Center was born and the journey to provide quality services and programs to our community began. I am active in various community boards and strive to always find ways to meet our BRAT students and families where they are to help them grow and thrive. Faith drives my belief that all things are possible with God and what He has planned for our center and our community leads me forward in finding more and better ways to serve my community and its residents.
